Nesty & Howie is a break-out Cuban band featuring the duo of Ernesto Brito Muñoz (Nesty), and Howard Jesus Ramos Urbay (Howie ) who have been pairing up to create hot music for a dozen years.
Nesty and Howie first started performing together in Alfa, a band that was part of a monthly show called Disco Youth at the American Theater with other groups like Cubanito 2002, Megalo, Mediterranean, Fire Boys, High Alert and Mega Boys.
Their credits include performing in Lesmer y su Tumbao and as their own duo Howard and Ernesto. Howie played with Charanga Forever and Son Candela, a group that earned considerable success with extensive national tours and television shows. Nesty worked with Haila and her band , working in places like the Salon Rosado of the Tropical, Casa Musica Varadero , Café Cantante and Havana Café.
In 2009 Nesty began working with Pedrito Camacho y el Clan doing concerts in the Theater America and touring they provinces of Cienfuegos, Sancti Spiritus , Matanzas , etc. The Clan then toured Mexico on a two-year contract. In 2011 Nesty returned to Cuba to join Coral Latino and re-connected with Howie.
Once again reunited, in February 2012 they established Nesty & Howie and in April created their production label releasing Un millón de razones (A Million Reasons) to Cuban media and abroad to huge acclaim. They hit it big on Disco fiesta 98, de 1 a 3, (Radio Ciudad), Visión and Música viva. They led the charts on Radio Rebelde, and had six weeks of hits on Radio Metropolitana. They appeared on television shows like 23 y M, Piso 6, Mediodía en TV, A puro corazón, Lo tenemos en mente, Conexión, Lucas, De tarde en Casa, among others.
In January 2013 Nesty & Howie created the video of Un millón de razones with director Alexis Oliva and editor Octavio Crespo ( best editing award at Lucas 2013.)
In February 2013 we had the great opportunity to be nominated for popularity award at the Cuerda Viva festival and shared the stage with our country as Decemer Bueno, David Blanco, Ernesto Blanco, Qva Libre , among others. Of the 32 bands nominated for popularity award Nesty & Howie placed fourth – being among the top five places was something very special including a special live broadcast.
In May 2013 they released their first album ” Hot ” which has 6 unreleased songs written by artists such as José Enrique Gonzaález Barnes , Ernesto Brito Muñoz , Howard Ramos Urbay plus 2 international covers , Y tú y yo estamos locos and Yo no sé mañana. The album spans musical genres such as Salsa, Timba and Merengue.
Since then it has all been upward with main stage appearances in top Havana venues, lots of TV and radio and huge interest from the public. Nesty & Howie are conquering the market in Cuba and are on their way to international acclaim.
