No doubt this is a band that every Cuban likes. They have received several awards for their alternative music that combines funk, hip hop and rock. The public love their peculiar and distinctive costumes and hats.

This club was renovated years ago and now is showing a new theme, the characters of the movie Vampires in Havana. This new name, Pepito’s bar, is the name of the protagonist of the film, who represents a Cuban man.

KARAMBA is a band born in Havana in 2003. They are in the preference of the Cuban young people. They have released 3 albums: Déjame volar (2003), Mírame (2006) and De ida y vuelta (2009). From the very beginning they have made tours in Cuba, Mexico, France and Spain, giving concerts in different festivals.

 

MUSIC: “RAY FERNÁNDEZ”

His first great public success was earned with the song “Lucha tu Yuca” (Struggle for what’s yours), a piece in which he uses an entertaining analogy between today’s Cubans and the indigenous ancestors.

 

MUSIC: “JOSÉ LUIS CORTÉS Y NG LA BANDA”

Place: Diablo Tun tún, 11:00 pm

This band was founded by the flutist José Luis Cortés, El Tosco. He created the term timba, the most popular Cuban dance in the last two decades.

A band founded in 2013 by Emilio Frías, El Niño, a very young songwriter and pianist that performed in famous bands like “Revé”, until he decided to have his own timba band.

Ivette Cepeda plays different genres of music: son, jazz, bolero, bossa nova, and the fusion of them all. She recently recorded a video clip “Remedios” together with “Qva Libre”.

A very popular salsa band since the 90’s.

The creator of Guayason, a mix of Cuban and afro music.

From 2002 to the present, Idania integrates the group of artists of the Buena Vista Social Club project, in which she shares a scene with great figures of Cuban culture such as Omara Portuondo, Orlando “Cachaito” López, Manuel “El Guajiro” Mirabal, Eliades Ochoa, among others.

Yissy is born, bearer of a great musical heritage that comes from her father and inspirer, the percussionist Bernardo García, founder of the legendary group Irakere. Since she was a child she leans towards percussion. Now she has a very good jazz band.

Jesús Fuentes studied at the most prestigious conservatories in the country such as the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory and the Higher Institute of Art, as well as studying at the Prague Conservatory and taking courses in Poland and Germany as a clarinetist.

Because of their particular style of defending popular Cuban, Caribbean and Latin American genres in a short time, these talented musicians gained recognition.

ART: “NATURALEZAS DEL ART NOUVEAU”

The show is organized by Réseau Art Nouveau, international institution in charge of the research and protection of the Art Nouveau. These pieces have been in exhibitions in galleries from different European cities.

 

ART: INTERACTIVA HABANA EXHIBITION

Place: Palacio de los Condes de Coñongo, 3:00 pm

The exhibition shows a representation of the Belgic and Cuban school of the comic.

 

ART: “BORIS LURIE IN HAVANA”

Place: Fine Arts Museum (Universal Art Building), 10:00 am

Personal exhibition of this American artist born in Russia. He is the creator of the movement No! Art.

 

ART: “DIVERTIMENTOS”

Place: Collage Habana Gallery, 10:00 am

Artist: Pedro de Oráa. His creative spectrum does not respect limits or borders. He has managed to impose himself on the panorama of national culture as a painter, promoter, designer, songwriter, critic, translator … artist.

 

MUSIC: PEDRITO CALVO Y LA JUSTICIA

Place: Casa de la Música Miramar, 11:00 pm

Pedrito Calvo is a former singer of the prestigious salsa band Los Van Van. Some years ago he formed his own band and began his weekly show at casa de la Música.

 

MUSIC: “HABANA DE PRIMERA”

The members of the orchestra have great musical versatility, since they usually interpret both, dance and concert themes. Alexander Abreu Manresa trumpet and lead voice, is also composer, and musical director of the group.

Located in the heart of Old Havana.

 

MUSIC: “EMIR SANTACRUZ Y ECLIPSE”

The excellent Cuban saxophonist Emir Santa Cruz, after a season away from the stage, returns with good health, strength and vibrant energy to continue bringing out the best harmonies of life.

 

IMPORTANT EVENT: PRIMERA LÍNEA, second edition

Place: Great Theater of Havana Alicia Alonso, from 27th to 30th of November

Primera Línea can be defined as a platform of exchange between artistic talent, musicologists, producers and professionals associated with the industry with international delegates, interested in the promotion and commercialization of Cuban music. An open space for exchange with official partners of Cuba and non-governmental producers of the world music circuit.

Adalberto Álvarez has been a leading force in the revival of son, the Cuban dance music that reached its peak in popularity in the ’50s.  According to The New York Times, it is one of Cuba’s great bands, one that has had an enormous influence on Salsa; it is modern and unstoppable.

 

MUSIC: “AISAR Y EL EXPRESO DE CUBA”

Expresso de Cuba is a band focused on the defense of Cuban popular dance music

 

MUSIC: “HAILA”

Place: Casa de la Música Miramar, 5:00 pm

Artist currently cataloged as one of the great Cuban performers, faithful exponent of Son, a musical genre created in Cuba and recognized throughout the World.

 

MUSIC: “QVA LIBRE”

Place: Café Cantante Mi Habana, 5:00 pm

No doubt this is a band that every Cuban likes. They have received several awards for their alternative music that combines funk, hip hop and rock. The public love their peculiar and distinctive costumes and hats.

 

MUSIC: “PURO SENTIMIENTO”

The band emerged spontaneously. Roberto Carcassés was the arranger of the first album by Cuban singer Yusa, recorded in the summer of 2001; both were very motivated with that work and from then on the idea of summoning other musicians arose.

Emilio Morales and Los Nuevos Amigos serves as the basis for the interpretation of the different traditional Cuban genres, including other international genres such as jazz.

MUSIC: “ALAIN PEREZ”

Undoubtedly, Alain Pérez is one of the great musicians of the 21st century, the singer and keyboardist of Irakere in 1994, the first bassist who replaced Juan Formell in Los Van Van, the simple and charismatic man who transmits energy and feeling in the key of rumba.

 

MUSIC: “KARAMBA”

Place: Café Cantante Mi Habana, 5:00 pm

KARAMBA is a band born in Havana in 2003. They are in the preference of the Cuban young people. They have released 3 albums: Déjame volar (2003), Mírame (2006) and De ida y vuelta (2009). From the very beginning they have made tours in Cuba, Mexico, France and Spain, giving concerts in different festivals.

 

MUSIC: “RAY FERNÁNDEZ”

Place: Diablo Tun Tún, 5:00 pm

His first great public success was earned with the song “Lucha tu Yuca” (Struggle for what’s yours), a piece in which he uses an entertaining analogy between today’s Cubans and the indigenous ancestors.

 

MUSIC: “JOSÉ LUIS CORTÉS Y NG LA BANDA”

Place: Diablo Tun tún, 11:00 pm

This band was founded by the flutist José Luis Cortés, El Tosco. He created the term timba, the most popular Cuban dance in the last two decades.

 

MUSIC: “MIEL CON LIMÓN”

Place: Submarino amarillo, 9:00 pm

The most interesting thing about this initiative is that they are young people studying at the university, all in the branch of science. Even so, alternating their academic commitments with the artistic ones, these musicians already find a place and followers to spread their lyrics.

 

MUSIC: “RUY LOPEZ-NUSSA Y LA ACADEMIA”

Place: Club Loa Zorra y el Cuervo, 11:00 pm

He is one of the most consecrated and relevant Cuban percussionists.
