Recently, Niels moved into a permanent studio in the Nuevo Vedado district of Havana. He is married to Aliuska Mayans, a photographer and painter of note, and has one child. His work reflects his sincere dedication to the arts. “My paintings express the anxiety that creates our culture, the contradictions of my generation and the human condition itself. The role of art in our reality is complex and difficult to define. Our art is now more diverse and open but still is not strong influence in society.”
